Ingredients:  
Mix in large bowl:
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Bring to a boil in saucepan:
1 stick butter or margarine
3 1/2 T. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. water

Pour liquid over dry ingredients and mix.

Add:
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well. Bake in 11x15 pan or two 8x8 pans for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

While cake is cooking, prepare icing for cake.

Bring to a boil:
1 stick butter or margarine
3 1/2 T. cocoa
1/3 c. milk

Add:
1 box sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Pour while hot over hot cake.
