2 T. butter or margarine
3/4 lb. ground beef and/or sausage
1/2 medium onion, diced
1/4 cup diced green pepper
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. chile powder
1/8 tsp. curry powder
1 1/2 T. sifted flour
1 cup cooked or canned kidney beans
1/2 cup cooked or canned tomatoes
plain pastry

Melt butter in heavy saucepan over low heat. Add meat, brown lightly, add onion and green pepper and brown lightly. Sift together dry seasonings and flour, add to meat mixture; blend thoroughly. Add beans and tomatoes; blend thoroughly. Cool.
Line deep 9-inch pie pan with plain pastry. Pour meat mixture into pastry and spread evenly. Cover with pastry. Slit to permit steam to escape. Bake in hot oven--400º for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 325º and bake 15 minutes more or until golden brown.
