1 c. white flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 -3/4 c. sugar (to taste)
2 eggs, beaten
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350º.

Cream the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add the beaten egg.

In a separate bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients. In another bowl, mix together the milk and mashed bananas. Alternate adding the flour mix and banana mix to the mixer bowl of shortening. Mix until smooth then add the walnuts.

Pour the batter into greased bread pans.

Bake at 350º for 1 hour if using large bread pans. If using small pans, check after 40 minutes.
