3 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cup chocolate chunks
2 cups dried cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Sift or wisk first 4 ingredients and set aside. Cream shortening & butter, sugars & eggs. Add vanilla, then flour. Mix well. Add chocolate chunks and cherries.

Bake at 325º for 15 minutes.

Use more or less % of butter to shortening to adjust crispness of the cookies.

David had a cookie "somewhere" and wanted me to make some that tasted like that. Having not eaten one myself, I have been adjusting the recipe for over 2 years. Many dozen cookies later, I have it almost right. I'm not certain but this could be a son's evil plot to have an endless supply of cookies!
