6 thick slices bacon, diced and fried
6 large potatoes, peeled and diced
4 cups chicken broth
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. white pepper
1-12 oz. can evaporated milk
8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup sour cream
1 cup diced green onions for garnish
1 cup packaged real bacon bits for garnish

In 5 quart saucepan, fry bacon. Add potatoes and stir into bacon drippings until absorbed. Add chicken broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil on medium-high heat, reduce heat to medium, and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add milk and turn heat to med-low. Add cheese and stir until melted and heated through. Stir in sour cream. Do not boil. Garnish with bacon bits, green onions, cheese and serve. Makes 8 servings.
