1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk (approx.)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º. Sift flour with salt and baking powder in medium bowl. Cut shortening with flour mixture with a pastry blender until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Make a well in the center and pour 2/3 c. milk all at once and stir quickly with a fork. Don't over mix- if dry, add a little more milk- not wet but moist enough to form a ball- turn out on lightly floured surface to knead- about 10 times. Gently roll out from center to 1/2 or 3/4" thickness. With floured glass or 2 1/2" cutter, cut straight down. Bake 12 - 15 minutes.
