13 egg whites (stiffly beaten)
pinch salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/1/4 c. powdered sugar
1/1/2 c. cake flour
1 t. white vanilla
1 rounding t. cream of tarter (added when beating egg whites)

Directions:
Beat egg whites while adding cream of tarter till stiffly beaten and form stiff peaks. Sift dry ingredients separately and measure each after sifting. Put all dry ingredients together and sift together 3 times. Leave dry ingredients in sifter and gradually fold into the egg whites a little at a time. Add vanilla last before putting into angel food cake pan.
For flavored angel cake, add 3 T. of your choice of flavored Jello to dry ingredients when sifting mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour, until brown on top . When baked take out of oven and immediately invert over on to soda bottle till cooled.

Can use fluffy white icing or cake decorators icing. My mother made one in a large dish pan. She had it all baked and setting on the kitchen table and while we were not looking, my sister, was just beginning to climb. She got on the table and sat there eating on it. Needless, to say mom was not happy.
