4 large egg yolks
3 Tbsp flour
2 c milk
4 tsp unsalted butter
1 tsp vanilla
36 (or more) NILLA vanilla wafer cookies
4 large firm ripe bananas, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1/2 c heavy cream
1 T confectioners sugar

In a bowl, whisk the sugar and egg yolks until thick and pale. Add the flour and 2 Tbsp of the milk. In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk and butter until steaming. Whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture. Return the mixture to the saucepan and bring to a boil over moderate heat, stirring constantly. Then cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Transfer the custard to a bowl and stir in the vanilla.
Arrange one third of the cookies in the bottom of an 8 cup souffle dish or casserole dish. Top with 1/3 each of the sliced bananas and the custard. Layer the remaining ingredients ending with the custard and chill.
Beat the cream with the confectioners sugar until firm. Spoon the whipped cream over the pudding and serve.
