2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. cocoa
3 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. coconut
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Line several cookie sheets or the counter with wax paper to prepare for the cookies.

Put the sugar, butter, milk and cocoa in a pan. Boil for three minutes. Remove from heat; then add the oatmeal, coconut, vanilla and nuts.

While hot, spoon the cookies onto wax paper. Allow to cool.

These cookies have been a tradition every Christmas since I was very small. Ken loves them, and occasionally convinces me to make them when it is not Christmas. They freeze very well -- so can be made in advance.
