2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
2 T. butter
1/2 c. vinegar
Pinch of salt

Directions:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, vinegar, butter, cream of tartar and salt. Heat, without stirring, to 256 to 275 degrees, or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a rigid ball. Remove from heat and let rest until cool enough to handle.

Butter hands.Pull taffy by stretching with hands, folding the candy over and repeating, until taffy is white and porous. Cut into 1 inch pieces with kitchen shears.
