DOUGH INGREDIENTS:
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
2 cups solid shortening (I prefer Crisco, Butter-flavored)
2 cups granulated sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 350°. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
In large mixing bowl, combine and sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add: shortening. Using a dough hook; cut shortening in to dry mixture like you would pie dough.
In a small bowl, beat together eggs, vanilla and buttermilk. Pour wet ingredients into the dry mixture and mix together using a dough hook.
Roll out dough to desired thickness, cut out shapes and bake for 10 – 12 minutes or until very lightly golden brown. If using colored sugars, add to dough prior to baking. Allow to cool completely if decorating with icing or frosting.
