40 Maraschino cherries with stems
3 tbsp Butter softened
3 tbsp Light corn syrup
¼ tsp Salt
2 cups Sifted confectioners’ sugar
24 oz Melting chocolate
1 tbsp Shortening for each 6 oz of chocolate
Directions:
Directions:
Drain cherries well. Combine butter, corn syrup, salt and sugar (work with fingers)

Shape 1 tsp mixture around each cherry, chill until firm

Melt chocolate and shortening, keep over warm water (remove from heat)

Dip cherries to cover completely, place on cookie sheet lined with wax paper

Let harden

Store in cool dry place to ripen, about 2 weeks
