1 lb fresh okra pods
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3/4 c. self-rising cornmeal
2 T. flour
Corn oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Wash okra; cut off tips and stem ends. Cut pods into 1/4-inch slices. Sprinkle sliced okra with salt and pepper. Combine cornmeal and flour in a wide, shallow bowl; roll okra in mixture. Fry okra in corn oil, over medium heat using a cast iron skillet or an electric deep fryer until golden brown and crispy.
