Personal Notes:
I remember one sunny Thanksgiving, the table was full -- all 10 of us kids, mom and dad, extended family, and friends. Pies were not store bought, but homemade, and difficult to make. With so many to share the pie, each person was allowed only a sliver of pie and a small teaspoon of whipped cream.
As each piece was cut and served, it was passed from person to person to the end of the table. No one was to take even a small bite until everyone was served.
Ellen went to the kitchen to prepare the pie. The first piece she brought out was exceptionally large and had a MASSIVE amount of whip cream. Oh how we were all envious of the guest at the end of the table that was going to enjoy such a treat.
Joe was about the 3rd person that the pie passed in front of. He was sitting directly across from me. When he did not continue to pass the pie, but took an enormous spoonful of the whip cream I remember feeling SO JEALOUS of his luck and thinking HOW BOLD!
Justice was soon served, as I saw his face drop, his eyes water, and he run from the table. In fact the whip cream was Crisco and he now had a FULL MOUTH of it!
