Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 qt milk (scalded and cooled slightly)
1 cup butter or marg
1 cup sugar
1 cup mashed potatoes
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp yeast (dissolved in 1 cup warm water)
1 Tbsp vanilla
4 well beaten eggs
1 Tbsp salt
14 - 15 cups flour
Glaze:
2 lb powdered sugar
1 cup boiling water
2 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp butter

Directions:
Directions:
Add butter to warm milk. Combine milk mixture, sugar, potatoes, yeast, soda, baking powder, and vanilla. Let raise till foamy (30 min). Add eggs, salt and flour (a cup at a time) to make a soft but not sticky dough. (I make it in my Bosch mixer) Place dough in oiled, big plastic bowl and put lid on it. Let rise till double in bulk -- it will pop the lid off of the bowl. Roll out and cut with donut cutter. After you have cut a dozen or two you can start frying them. Fry in hot oil (Canola) in electric fry pan at 375º turning only once. Don't puncture the donut or they will be 'grease soaked'.

To glaze, it works well to use a metal rod and string several donuts on it and place it over a bowl.

Personal Notes:
These were fried 'on the spot' for many church Halloween parties. The recipe was given out and the dough brought to the church where we would fry 36 dozen donuts. Also made them at home on Halloween for family & friends.
