1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup each walnuts, dates or raisins (optional)
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp.cinnamon
3 tbsp. strawberry jam
vanilla
salt

Maude made note that you can add raisins, dates or nuts but said "I don't because no one likes them"!

Oven 350º
Bake about 30 minutes, check, it will take another 15 minutes but cover the top so it won't brown too much.
