1 C butter softened
1 1/2 C confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

Buttercream Icing
6 T butter
1 lb package confectioners sugar
1/4 C light cream (1/2 & 1/2)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
optional: food coloring

Directions:

Cookies: Mix thoroughly butter, powdered sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Chill for 2-3 hrs
Heat oven to 375. Divide dough in half. Roll each half to 3/16" thick on lightly floured board. Use cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 7 minutes or until light brown on the edge.

Frosting: Cream butter gradually add 1/2 sugar, beat in 2 T cream and vanilla. Gradually add remaining sugar. Add enough cream for desired consistency. Optional: add food coloring.
