2 1/2 lb red cabbage
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tart apples
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
6 slices bacon
1 large onion

Directions:
Directions:
Slice cabbage fine and put in pan. Add all other ingredients except onion and bacon, which should be cut in small pieces and browned. Pour off excess fat and add to cabbage. Cook slowly for 1 hour.
