"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

1/4 c. chopped onion
1 1/3 c. cracker crumbs

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º
Mix all but the last two listed ingredients. Shape into small balls. Brown meatballs in skillet (or bake in 350º oven until done - about 30 minutes). Put meatballs into a large casserole dish (9 x 13). If browned in a skillet, drain all but 1 or 2 tbsp. of grease. Add both cans of mushroom soup and enough milk to make a gravy. Stir until heated. Gravy will thicken as it bakes. Pour over meatballs. Cover and bake in preheated oven for 1-1/4 hours. Sauce will thicken as it cooks.

Personal Notes:
This recipe came from a cook book given to me by my best friend, Miriam Harder. I made this every Christmas for the family get together at Aunt Betty's house on Christmas Eve. This is one of Kelly's favorite dishes. I omit the onions (since I don't like to bite into an onion) and add onion powder instead.
