2 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. boiling water
Buttercream frosting:
6 T. butter, softened
Hershey's cocoa (1/3 c. for light flavor, 1/2 c. for med. flavor, 3/4 c. for dark flavor)
2 2/3 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Cake: Heat oven to 350º. Grease and flour two round 8-inch cake pans. Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl. Add milk, eggs, oil and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes on medium. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove. Cool completely and frost with buttercream frosting.
Buttercream frosting: Cream butter. Add cocoa and powdered sugar alternately with milk. Beat to spreading consistency (additional milk may be necessary). Blend in vanilla.
