Texas Style Beef Brisket Recipe

3 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 bay leaves
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
1 fresh brisket (6 lbs)
1 cup beef broth

BARBEQUE SAUCE:
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 garlic cloves (can use garlic powder)
1/2 cup molasses
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

Directions:
Directions:
In large resealable plastic bag combine the first 6 ingredients or 7 if using liquid smoke. Cut brisket in half and add to the bag, seal bag and turn to coat. Refrigerate overnight. Transfer beef to a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker then add broth. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until tender.

SAUCE:
In a small sauce pan, saute onions until tender; add garlic and cook 1 minute longer. Stir in remaining ingredients and heat thoroughly. Remove brisket from the slow cooker discard bay leaves. Place one cup cooking juices in a measuring cup, skim off the fat and add to the barbeque sauce discarding remaining juices. Return brisket to the slow cooker and top with the sauce mixture. Cover and cook on high 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. Thinly slice across the grain serve with sauce
