1/2 c. shortening
1 1/3 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chopped unpared apple
1 c. raisins or dried cranberries
1/4 c. apple juice or milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º
Cream shortening, brown sugar and egg. Then add 1/2 cup of the sifted dry ingredients (not the raisins or apples). Mix thoroughly. Blend in apple juice or milk. Then add the nuts, chopped apple and raisins or cranberries. Stir well and drop by teaspoonfuls on to a greased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes.
Frost while still warm with vanilla glaze:
Mix together and drizzle over warm cookies.

2 1/2 tbsp. apple juice or milk
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tbsp.soft butter
