1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 tsp. soda
3 tbsp. buttermilk ( can substitute sour cream )
1/2 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, add sugar a little at a time, while stirring. Then add 1 egg. set aside. Add flour and baking powder. Set aside. Mash bananas with soda. Add buttermilk. Add flour mixture alternately with banana-buttermilk to shortening and sugar mixture. When all combined, add nuts. Bake 1 hour at 325º.
