3 egg whites
pinch cream of tartar
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup slivered almonds (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Whip egg whites 30 seconds. Add cream of tartar. Whip until stiff. Add sugar 3/4 tablespoon at a time, and then add vanilla. Fold in almonds if desired.

2. Place 2 layers of wax paper or a brown paper bag on cookie sheet. Drop on by spoonfuls. Place in oven for 1 hour at 275º then turn off oven and let them cool in oven.
