1 1/2 sticks margarine, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 oz. milk (about 1/3 cup)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or anise extract
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

On medium speed, beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla (or anise). In a separate bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to sugar mixture on low speed until ingredients form a dough.

On a floured board, shape the dough into logs, about 3x8 inches in size. Place on greased baking sheet for about 20 -25 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove to cooling rack. When slightly cooled, cut on an angle into 1-inch slices. Place slices on their side on the baking sheet and toast under broiler until lightly brown. Flip and do the other side. Cool completely.
