1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup of shortening
1/4 cup softened butter or margarine
1 egg
1 1/4 cups of all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.
Mix sugars, peanut butter, shortening, butter and egg in a large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours or until firm.
Shape dough into 1' balls. Place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flattening crisscross pattern with fork dipped in sugar.
Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes then remove from cookie sheet and cool on a rack.
