1/2 c. sugar
2 T. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Vanilla pudding
Mix sugar, cornstarch, and salt in saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over med heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 min. Remove from heat, gradually stir as least half of hot mixture into egg yolks, then mix into hot mixture in saucepan. Boil 1 min more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, mix in butter and vanilla.

Chocolate pudding
Make as vanilla pudding except increase sugar to 1 C and add 2 squares unsweetened chocolate (2 oz) cut up with the milk, or 1/3 C unsweetened cocoa with sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
