Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. sieved squash, or frozen
1 tsp. salt
1 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 stick butter, melt in milk
1 yeast cake dissolved in 1/2 c. lukewarm water
6 c. flour, approximately

Directions:
Directions:
Add squash, sugar and salt to hot milk/butter liquid. When lukewarm add yeast, eggs and flour. Keeping dough sticky as possible, knead with buttered hands. Note: knead 'till hands are weary.
Let rise, covered in buttered bowl, until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into rolls. Cover and let them double in size. Bake at 375º 10-15 min.
Polly's note: I beat about 2/3 of the flour in and let it relax a spell (like bread), then add the rest to make a fairly soft dough which I knead well with floured, not buttered hands. It worked fine. I did clover leaf in muffin tins and crescents. Can make buns, loaves, etc. They are very good!

Personal Notes:
These are very moist and yummy. The recipe makes enough for any celebration, about 6 dozen. They freeze well.
