Directions:Preheat oven to 400º F. Spray a pyrex pie plate with vegetable oil. Separate 1 cup of flour onto a paper plate for rolling. Place 2 c. flour into mixing bowl. Make a "well" in the middle of the flour. Add oil and milk. Stir in a circular motion making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl to wet all the flour. (Caution: over mixing makes tough biscuits. Handle dough as little as possible.) Spoon one heaping tablespoon glob at a time into the flour on the paper plate. Fluff the flour over the wet dough ball and gently pick up the biscuit, patting down the rough spots lightly. Place the biscuits one by one in the pan. When all are in the pan, pat a little oil on top of each biscuit to promote even browning. Bake for about 20 minutes or until you can see through the glass pan that the bottoms are beginning brown. Turn oven off and turn on broiler to bring the tops to a golden brown. Serve hot with butter and favorite breakfast sweets. Rachael & Gran have made these several times! |
