1 c. dry red wine
2/3 c. ketchup
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, pressed
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
1-2 onions chopped
2-3 sprigs fresh thyme
1 tbsp olive oil
4 lbs bone-in short ribs
salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
In a large Dutch oven or skillet heat olive oil over medium heat.
Salt & pepper short ribs
Brown the short ribs in the pan, but do not crowd them. Brown in batches on all sides. Remove them from the pan and reserve.
Saute onion in the same pan until translucent, about 5 minutes
Meanwhile, whisk together the wine, ketchup, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce & brown sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
After onions become translucent, add pressed garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute.
Place browned short ribs, sautéed onions & garlic in slow cooker, and liquid and thyme sprigs.
Cover & cook on Low for 7-8 hours.
