1 stick butter
1 c. plain flour
¾ c. milk
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
4-5 c. sliced peaches
8 Tbsp. sugar
½ c. water
Cinnamon (if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in a 9” x 13” baking dish. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar & milk. Pour over the butter in dish. Spread peaches over the mixture. (If cinnamon is desired, add to taste at this point.) Sprinkle the 8 Tbsp. sugar over the mixture and finally gently pour the water over the top. Bake @ 350 degrees for 50 minutes.

Note: May substitute canned peaches, canned apples, fresh apples, cherries or frozen fruits such as mixed berries or peaches.

This is another recipe from my grandmother, Lula Blackwelder. There was ALWAYS a dessert at her table and this was definitely the most commonly served.
