1 cup kishik powder
2 cloves chopped garlic
˝ lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. shortening
2 cups water

Sauté garlic in shortening. Add the meat and cook until meat is no longer pink. Add the kishik powder and water to the meat mixture and cook on medium heat until everything boils. Stir constantly. Reduce heat when the mixture boils and continue to cook to allow for the liquid to thicken.

Serve warm.

So kishik is basically powdered yogurt and bulghur wheat. You can find it in Middle Eastern grocery stores and the most common kishik dish is a breakfast dish. My mother made this for us on cold winter mornings. Full of protein and sustenance, this meal filled us up for most of the day.
