Mashed Potato layers
5 – 6 potatoes
1 cup bulgur wheat
¼ cup milk
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
6 cups water (with ½ tsp salt)
1 cup bread crumbs

Filling
2 chopped onions
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. pepper

Pour water and salt in pot. Add peeled and cubed potatoes. Let boil for 20 minutes or until potatoes are soft. Drain and mash in mixing bowl. Add ½ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. pepper and milk. Add butter. Mix well. Add bulgur wheat and mix well. Set aside.

Heat oil In medium pan. Saute onion until golden brown. Add ground beef and spices. Cook until beef is browned.

Grease 13” round baking dish with shortening. Divide the potato and wheat mixture in half. Spread half of the mixture in baking dish. Layer the filling on top. Layer the remaining potato mixture on top of the filling. Spread evenly and smooth the top by wetting your hand and running it across.

Add bread crumbs to the top layer. Spray entire surface with non-stick cooking spray, or add bits of shortening to the top.

Cook in 350° oven for approximately 45 minutes. Prepare a lemony salad as a side.
