Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp mahlab
1 tsp yansoon (anniset)
3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
If you are using yansoon seeds, which are what I usually have on hand, you should boil them in water for 5 minutes. Strain the seeds and set aside the water. Instead of using 1/2 cup milk, use 1/4 cup of the yansoon water and 1/4 cup milk.

Mix flour, mahlab, yansoon and sugar together.

Add the oil and the milk (or milk and yansoon water)

Add the flour. Mix well. The dough should not stick to your hands.

Divide dough in approximately 24 round balls (about 2” circles). Knead each piece individually and roll out into 4” tubes. Shape tube in pretzel shape or donut shape.

Bake at 350° for approximately ½ hour, or until cookies are golden brown.
