Ingredients: Graham cracker crust: Use a store bought graham cracker crust (Keebler Ready Crust is a good choice).
Or, make your own: 1 c. crushed graham crackers 1/4 c. margarine, melted 3 tbsp. confectioners' sugar 1/2 tsp. Knox gelatin pinch salt
Cream cheese filling: 1 package Dream Whip 1/2 c. chilled can of evaporated milk 1/2 c. sugar pinch salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 - 8 oz. cream cheese at room temperature
Topping: 1 can cherry pie filling or blueberry pie filling, refrigerated

Directions:Graham cracker crust: Mix all ingredients and press into pie plate. Chill at least 15 minutes.
Cream cheese filling: Whip Dream Whip and canned milk. Add sugar, salt, vanilla, and cream cheese and whip until stiff and smooth.
Pour cream cheese filling into pie shell. Refrigerate.
When ready to serve, top pie with pie filling. Or, top each slice individually when serving. |

Notes: This is the famous cherry pie that mother serves during family get-togethers. I have used regular milk in place of the chilled canned evaporated milk. Either way, make sure your milk is chilled. Mother uses 1/2 cup sugar, but I use half that. The cream cheese must be room temperature - otherwise your filling will be lumpy. Sometimes I do not add the cherry pie filling since I like the cream cheese filling the best!
