1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups quick rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 pk. dates
1/2 cup butter
1 cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cook dates, brown sugar and hot water until soft, set aside to cool. Sift flour, baking soda and salt into a mixing bowl, add oats and brown sugar and mix well. Add butter. When all is well blended, press half crumbs into well -greased 8 x 12 inch pan. Cover with date filling, top with remaining crumbs and bake fpr 20 min. in a 375 degree oven. While hot, cut into squares. Serve cool.
