2 pkgs. yeast
2 cups warm water
4 eggs beaten
1 3/4 cup sugar
2 12 cup scalded milk
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
lemon rind
lemon extract
flour

Topping:
1/3 cup flour
3 tbsp. butter
1/3 cup sugar
chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Make sponge thicker than cake batter set for 3 hours.
Beat eggs; add sugar mix well; add egg mixture to scalded milk slowly as to not cook egg; add salt, shortening and butter mix well; add enough flour to make soft dough. Set aside covered to rise and punch down two times. Bake 350º F for 20-25 minutes

Strussel Topping:
Mix like pie dough flour, butter and sugar; add chopped nuts place on top of Kuchen before baking.

The was Grandma Johanna Stroh's recipe and it was said no one could make Kuchen like her. When she passed away many were disappointed because there would be no more Kuchen.
