Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 bar Ivory soap
1/2 cup washing soda - not the same as baking soda
1/2 cup Borax

Directions:
Directions:
Grate soap in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the Borax and stir until dissolved. (Do this step over a low heat or you will have a big white foamy overflow!) Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into a bucket. Add soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Use a funnel and pour the soap into old laundry detergent jugs or milk jugs. The soap will gel in about 24 hours, but it can be used immediately. The finished soap will be a watery gel and is low sudsing. Suds are not what does the cleaning; it is the ingredients. This is a great detergent option for sensitive skin. It makes about 2 gallons, and you only use 1/2 cup per load. Note: This is very inexpensive and gets the laundry clean...even in a family with 4 boys! And it only takes about 15 minutes to make from start to finish.
