1 - 1 lb can freestone peach halves
1 8 3/4 oz canned pineapple slices
2 T sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 T cornstarch
2 T lemon juice
maraschino cherry halves
peach halves

1 c sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 c shortening
1/4 c water
2 T sugar
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Drain peaches and pineapples, reserving syrup. In medium pan, mix 2 T sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Stir in lemon juice and peach syrup. Cook, stirring until thick and smooth.

Arrange peaches and pineapple and a few cherry halves and pecans in a nine inch layer cake pan. Pour hot syrup over fruit. In medium bowl, stir together flour, 2 T sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture is consistency of corn meal. Stir in water and mix to form a smooth dough. Flour hands. Pat dough to form a 9 inch circle on wax paper. Carefully place dough over fruit. Pat smooth. Bake 25 to 30 min at 400º or until golden brown.
