Ingredients:  
Heat 2 cups milk in a large pot on the stove.
In a separate bowl, combine:
1 cup sugar
¼ cup cornstarch (or ½ cup flour)
pinch of salt
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Gradually add to warm milk, a little at a time. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Pour into baked pie shell, cover closely with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming. Chill. Top with whipped cream and serve.

Variations:
For Coconut Cream Pie - Add 1 cup coconut before pouring into pie shell.
OR
For Chocolate Cream Pie - Add ¼ cup cocoa and ¼ cup sugar to dry ingredients combined in separate bowl and 2 tablespoons butter to milk.
OR
For Banana Cream Pie – Add ½ teaspoon vanilla + banana flavoring + sliced bananas.
OR
Sometimes I add peanut butter to the chocolate cream pie just before pouring into the pie shell for a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.
