This is really delicious and popular.
The method is really the same as making scalloped potatoes, except less fat and more nutrition and tastier.
Thinly slice equal amounts of sweet potato and turnip (I think you call our turnips rutabaga).
Butter a casserole dish and layer vegetables with a light sprinkle of salt, pepper, flour and dabs of butter between layers.
Pour over equal amounts of chicken stock and Pinot Grigio or other dry white wine, up to about 2/3 of the top of the veg. Cover with foil and bake at 350º for about an hour until vegetables are tender. (Take the foil off sooner if you need to evaporate the liquid). Most of it should be absorbed when done. Then cover with grated gruyere or other Swiss cheese and broil until brown and bubbly...great with roast pork.
