2 sticks butter
1/4 c. cocoa
1 c. cold water
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 eggs
Icing:
1 stick butter
1/4 c. cocoa
5 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. box powdered sugar
chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400ºF. In a sauce pan, melt together butter, water and cocoa. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil and let boil for 1 minute. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar together. Stir in flour, soda and salt. Pour in chocolate mixture and blend. Then pour in buttermilk and vanilla, blend. Bake for 20 minutes.
While cake is baking, make icing. Bring to a boil butter, cocoa, and milk. Remove from the heat, add vanilla and powdered sugar. Sprinkle top with chopped pecans if desired.
