1/2 c. butter or shortening
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 egg
5 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together lightly, then add egg and sweet milk, beat only until blended. Sift together flour, baking powder, cocoa and salt. Add to blended mixture along with vanilla. Stir lightly. Add nuts if desired. Drop about one teaspoon on buttered tin. Bake at 300ºF about 20 minutes. Watch closely as these brown easily. I've found none equal to these.
