1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 pt. water
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c.flour

Directions:
Directions:
Bring to a boil the shortening, raisins, sugar and water. Set aside until nearly cold, add soda. In mixing bowl have other ingredients, adding cooled mixture to this and lastly flour. Flour to thicken, about 2 1/2 c. - not too thick. Bake in greased cookie sheet or two 8 inch pans, approximately 35-40 minutes at 350ºF. Use toothpick method for doneness. A very moist cake and good without frosting.
