Mama called it fried corn. She used Silver Queen because it's not real sweet. She would fry some white bacon (salt pork) for the pan drippings and cut the corn from the cob and then scrape the cob to get the milky juice. All of that would go in with some salt and plenty of black pepper and about 1/3 cup of milk.

She would cook it in the skillet until the corn was just ender and most of the liquid would thicken, all the while stirring.
