1 1/2 c. sifted flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. + 1 tbsp. Crisco shortening
4 tbsp. cold water

Cut in fat with pastry blender. Sprinkle on the cold water and mix lightly. Shape the dough into a ball. Roll out 2/3 of the dough into a circle 1 1/2 inches larger than the pie plate you plan on using. Roll out the other 1/3 for the top pie crust.

Practice makes perfect. That's what Grandma always told us. Well, we girls still need practice - our crusts aren't perfect yet, but some days, they aren't too bad. Grandma made the BEST crust! Flaky - never tough.
