"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
"Juice" from cooking a whole chicken (see my "Whole Chicken recipe")
Leftover skin and bones from whole chicken

Directions:
Directions:
After your whole chicken has been cooked and removed from crockpot, leave the juice in there. Remove all the meat from the bones, put the bones back in the crockpot, along with any unused skin. Add 4 to 5 cups of water. Set crock pot on low and cover. Let it cook overnight. In the morning, strain out the bones and skin and you have homemade chicken broth for free. It is free of the preservatives and very flavorful. Store the broth in yogurt or sour cream containers. Before using, skim off the fat and throw that part away. You can store this up to 6 months in the refrigerator.
