1/2 lb. butter
1 1/2 lb. sugar
6 egg yolks, well beaten
1 pt. sour cream
6 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1 tsp. soda
1 3/4 lb. flour
1/4 tsp. mace
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 T. lemon juice
grated rind of 2 lemons
1 lb. seedless raisins, chopped
1/2 lb. citron, thin sliced
1 lb. seeded raisins, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Beat to a cream 1 1/2 lb. sugar and 1/2 lb. butter. Gradually add the well beaten egg yolks and sour cream in which a teaspoonful of soda has been dissolved. Alternating with the addition of the sour cream, add 1 3/4 lb. sifted flour. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Sprinkle the raisins and citron with the lemon juice, lemon rind, nutmeg and mace. Add to batter. Turn into a paper lined pan and bake slowly at 320 degrees for 2 1/2 hours, covering with buttered paper while baking.
