3/4 c. sifted flour; 1/2 tsp. baking soda; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1/2 c. sugar; 1/3 c. shortening; 1 T. water, 1 pkg (6 oz) chocolate chips; 1 tsp. vanilla; 2 eggs; 1-1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional); 1/3 c. (more or less) Jack Daniels Whiskey

Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together, set aside. Combine sugar, shortening, and water and cook over low heat to boiling point. Add choc. chips and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add flour mixture and nuts. Stir well. Pour into greased 9 inch pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 350º. Sprinkle with Jack Daniels.
