1 lb ground beef, 1 medium onion (chopped) 2 cloves garlic (minced), 2 (14 oz) cans stewed tomatoes, undrained, 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce, 1 cup water, 2 Tbls chili powder, 1 1/2 Tbls cocoa, 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground allspice, Shredded cheddar cheese. for topping.

Cook first 3 ingredients in a Dutch oven over medium - high heat, stirring until beef crumbles. Drain and return beef mixture to Dutch oven. Stir in stewed tomatoes and next 6 ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer stirring occasionally. Serve with hot cornbread or over cornbread waffles. Top with Cheddar cheese.

This can be cooked in slow cooker. Just do exactly as recipe states but omit 1 cup water. Cook on low for 8 hours.
